Planning your wedding day timeline can feel overwhelming, but starting the morning right with a calm and organized beauty schedule is key. Here are my top tips for crafting the perfect wedding day hair and makeup schedule. Let’s make sure your wedding morning is as stress-free and enjoyable as possible!

Coordinate with Your Crew

Your beauty timeline starts with communication. Talk to your makeup artist, hairstylist, and photographer well in advance. Here are some things to keep in mind:

Start Times: Ask your hair and makeup team how much time they’ll need to get everyone ready. Average times: 30-45 mins for each service and bridal party, 60-90 mins for Bride.
Photo Prep: Coordinate with your photographer about when you need to be dressed and ready. This includes iconic shots like “getting into the dress” or “walking to meet your fiancé.”
Special Requests: If you’re planning fun dress reveals or social media videos, ensure these are factored into the schedule.

Be Specific with Your Bridal Party

Clear communication with your bridal party and family members is essential. Here’s how to set expectations:

Preparation: Let everyone know to arrive with clean, dry hair and moisturized skin. Dirty hair is NOT preferred. For optimal hair prep blow dry hair with volume at the root and as smooth as possible (unless otherwise instructed). This will save time and you can get the style you want.
Realistic Styles: hairstyle inspiration photos are always great, but for even better results check out your hair stylist’s work first for reference. They know EXACTLY how to replicate the look and it will save time. Remember, to tell your crew that Hollywood waves or adding extensions take extra time and that would need to be planned ahead of time.
Makeup Inspo: For easy communication share the makeup artist gallery or instagram page for their current looks.

Protect Your Hairstyle

Wedding days can be full of surprises, but your hairstyle doesn’t need to be one of them. Protect your look with these tips:

Dress Prep: Ask bridesmaids to steam their dresses before arriving to avoid last-minute chaos.

Preparing for your wedding makeup and hair is a big deal, right? As someone who’s been part of 100s of brides’ big days, I know how important it is to feel confident, beautiful, and CHILL. Let me walk you through the process of preparing for your wedding makeup and hair so you know exactly what to expect and how to prepare. Here’s my step-by-step guide, from our first consultation to the moment you say, “I do!”

1. The Initial Consultation

Everything starts with a chat—this is where we get to know each other! We’ll talk about your vision, your wedding style, and any makeup or hair inspiration you might have. Whether you’re going for a natural glow or a more glamorous look, I’ll help you figure out what will make you feel like the best version of yourself on your wedding day.

My Tip: Bring inspiration photos, your wedding theme details, and any questions you have about the process. The more I know, the better I can bring your vision to life!

2. The Trial Run

The trial session is one of my favorite parts of the process! It’s our chance to experiment and ensure every detail is just right for you. The next day, I’ll follow up to hear how the makeup and hair held up throughout the day. I’ll ask for your honest feedback—were you happy with your foundation coverage? Did you want more or less definition in your brows, eyeliner, cheek color, or lip shade? Your input is essential to perfecting your look, and I promise, it never hurts my feelings!

For Makeup: We’ll play with different levels of glam, find the perfect foundation match, and make sure your makeup feels comfortable and lasts through a day of celebrations.
For Hair: Start with clean, blow-dried hair for the best results. If you have inspiration photos, bring them along—if not, don’t worry, I have plenty to share! We’ll focus on how the front of your hair frames your face and how the back complements your dress, the weather, and your overall aesthetic. Together, we’ll create a style that’s perfectly tailored to you!

My Tip: If possible, any accessories you’re planning to wear in your hair. This helps us make sure everything fits perfectly with your overall look.

3. Skincare and Hair Prep

In the weeks leading up to your wedding, it’s all about preparation. Healthy skin and hair make a huge difference when it comes to creating a flawless bridal look.

Skincare: I always recommend starting a good skincare routine months in advance. We’ll make sure your skin is moisturized, exfoliated, and glowing. Avoid introducing any new products right before the big day to prevent breakouts or reactions.
Hair Care: Regular trims and using the right products (a clarifying shampoo can do wonders do remove buildup). Damaged hair can’t be magically fixed in a style and you don’t need extra long hair for an updo. If you’re coloring your hair, we’ll plan the final touch-up a week or two before the wedding so it’s fresh but not too new.

My Tip: If you’re considering a spray tan, I recommend scheduling it a couple of days before the wedding for a natural glow that complements your makeup. If you’re a spray tan newbie, schedule a trial spray tan a few weeks before.

4. Wedding Day Prep

On the big day, we’ll make sure you have plenty of time to get ready. I like to create a calm and relaxed atmosphere so you can enjoy the process. I’ll ask if you If you have any last minute tweaks and then we’ll get started:

Makeup: We’ll start with a clean, moisturized face and use long-lasting, waterproof products to keep your makeup looking fresh all day. I’ll focus on enhancing your natural beauty while making sure your look holds up in photos.
Hair: We’ll style your hair to perfection based on what we decided during the trial. Fresh, clean hair or a bit of texture (depending on the style) will help us achieve the best results.

My Tip: Keep a small touch-up kit handy, with essentials like your lip color, pressed powder, and hairpins. I’ll also help you put it together so you can stay flawless throughout the event.

5. Final Touches and Go Time!

Once your makeup and hair are done, I’ll make sure everything is picture-perfect before you step into your dress. We’ll check your look in different lighting to ensure it’s flawless in every shot. After any last-minute adjustments, you’ll be ready to make your grand entrance!

3 Blush Tips for Brides

In my not-so-humble opinion, I think that blush is the most underrated cosmetic. The eyes and lips seem to get all of the attention. But I am opening up my window and screaming “I LOVE BLUSH”!

Blush has the ability to make you look healthy and rested. If applied correctly you look as if you just ran around the block! I have seen blush turn pasty into peaches and cream, sallow into glowing, blah becomes vibrant and tired becomes vital.

The other ah-mazing thing about blusher is that it adds dimension to your face and can highlight your fabulous bone structure. Have your ever noticed how after applying foundation your skin looks even but your face looks flat? Properly applying blush can help to accentuate your cheekbones and add dimension to your face. When used in combination with a bronzer – watch out because you can have Gisele-like cheekbones! If you are tired, sick, hungover (who me?),or just having a bad face day, blush can save you. Your cheekbones never look tired so throw on some sunglasses, pop on your blush and head out to face the world.

In bridal beauty, blush can be crucial since a bride is generally wearing a white, ivory, or champagne gown. Blush can prevent one from looking washed out and put the “glow” into the glowing bride.

Here’s 3 things to keep in mind when choosing and applying your blush:

If you flush easily, you WILL be flushing on your wedding day. In this case, look for the palest of blushes and use it sparingly. Or just use a warm bronzer on and under the cheekbone to add dimension and warmth to your face.
Don’t use blush with shimmer all over your cheek. Your face will appear “greasy” in photos. Keep shimmer higher-up on the cheekbone away from the apples of your cheek.
If you already have a lot of pink in your cheeks go for a peach or coral and keep it along the upper cheekbone. This will give you that great healthy glow without making you look like a doll.
